Newfoundland Amateur Football Association The Newfoundland Amateur Football Association was organized at a meeting held in St. John’s on the evening of August 11, 1950. According to the St. John’s Evening Telegram of August 12, 1950, the officers elected on that night were: President: John Rabbitts (St. John’s), 1st Vice-President: J.D. Higgins (St. John’s), 2nd Vice-President: C. Hansen (Corner Brook), 3rd Vice-President: Fred Tessier (Grand Bank), Secretary-Treasurer: H.B. Bartlett (St. John’s). Others present included H. Anderson, H. Walsh and G. Yates of Corner Brook, the Hon. P.S. Forsey, who represented Burin, two local referees and the executive of the city league.
